Rewilding, Phantom Limbs & Re'membering'
Most us have a sense that something is ‘off’ about how the modern world is structured, and how it continuously imposes pressure upon us, like psychic chains that shackle and constrain, forcing us to behave, conform, and comply.
Much of the population accepts this pressure, like a weighted blanket holding them in the comfort of the system that feeds them, takes care of them, and defines the parameters of their existence. Which is understandable, for the fish rarely questions the water in which it swims.
Yet some of us feel an itch, an ache, a discomfort so palpable that we cannot help but bristle against it, and wonder what this ‘force’ is. For some of us the itch is painful, for others it’s an unquenchable drive to live life differently than the rest.
And if you feel these sensations, you’re not imagining it my friends.
You’re re'membering' something deep, ancient and feral...that feels constrained.
This is the sensation of 'phantom limbs'... the remembering of our innate humanity and ways of life that have been carved and butchered from us, because...
The truth is, as a species we are being domesticated & herded, and we have been for the last few thousand years.
Humans have become like corn stalks in the fields of the domestic.
The domesticate process must strip away our wildness.
This is not personal failure.
It’s the impact of a system designed to domesticate us.
This ‘offness’, this ache is a kind of memory, held within the intelligence of your ancient body, whose lineage spans a multi billion year history, the story of life on this Earth. Your body remembers something older, an inheritance that reaches back into the deep past, into the times of our indigenous tribal hunter-gatherer Ancestors.
For some of us, this memory is so strong that it refuses commodification, the thought of becoming corn in the fields is unacceptable.
This is the call of The Wild Spirit and the Deep Ancestors…
And it’s imperative is typically to rebel.
To become something wild.
Free.
For hundreds of thousands of years, humans lived as indigenous and tribal creatures, in other words, wild humans.
We were closer to wolves then, than to the obedient domestic beings we have become. But you were born into a world that no longer holds your ancestral context.
Yet like a lizard that regrows a its tail, we can still access these ancestral inheritances and unlock The Wild Spirit.
This is rewilding.
This book presents the Wolf-Dog as the symbol of the modern human rebelling against the domestic and returning to a more wild state, for they are a creature of two worlds, neither fully wild nor fully domestic.
Your wildness is not something you create. It is something you re'member', like the regrowing of limbs.
This book teaches you how to regenerate.
You were shaped by the domestic current, yet still carry the genes, psyche, and soul of something older.
'In Praise of The Wild Spirit' is told in the backdrop of a metaphor:
The domesticating force as a pathogen (viral or parasitic), rewilding as an immune response to it, all held within the power animals of the dog and the wolf.

A 3 Part Rewilding Protocol: Becoming the Wolf-Dog
Inoculations: Building Adaptive Immunity to the Domestic World
Modernity acts like a pathogen that infiltrates instinct and bends perception toward obedience, fragmentation, and spiritual amnesia. Inoculations teach you how to expose yourself to the domestic current in controlled, conscious ways so your system learns to recognize its effects. You build adaptive immunity by studying its tactics, sensing its influence on your attention and desire, and developing the ability to stay lucid inside its pressure. This phase strengthens your capacity to perceive the subtle forces shaping you, instead of unconsciously absorbing them.
Prophylactics: Strengthening Innate Immunity Through Daily Practice
This is your first line of defense. Prophylactics cultivate non negotiable habits that fortify the organism itself. These are the practices that restore the instinctive intelligence of the body, rekindle animistic perception, stabilize attention, and rebuild sovereignty from the inside out. You learn how to protect your wildness through rituals, physicality, connection with land, cycles, spirits, and the deep ancestral pulse. This phase creates resilience that makes you less vulnerable to domesticative forces before they even reach you.
Wolf-Dog Medicine: Integration and Transformation in the Liminal Space
This is where the work becomes lived. Wolf-Dog Medicine guides you into the threshold where the wild and the domestic meet inside your psyche. You learn to love the dog in you without submitting to it, and awaken the wolf without rejecting the world you were born into. This integration creates a new kind of human who can navigate civilization without being absorbed by it. The wolf-dog becomes unpredictable, sovereign, relational, strategic, and self possessed. This phase teaches you how to move through the world as a creature of two contexts who cannot be herded and cannot be broken.
