Our life is meshwork of interwoven threads that flow or snag along particular patterns (like the patterns of a tapestry). There are places where the image is coherent and resonant, and other places that knot or distort. More importantly, every aspect of our life is connected to every other.

Fate is a continuous weaving by the unseen hands of divine forces, order and chaos both, & just like a rug may have a visual rhythm, so too does our fate. Fate often flows along predictable seams and emerges from beyond the personal 'will'. They are patterns, circumstances and events that grip us beyond our direct control.

This is why we are stuck in repeating patterns that we seem unable to shift despite our best efforts, we are stuck in the weaving.

Divination is in large part the measuring and mapping of fate. Divination system are often probabilistic, meaning they tell you the most likely probability of something occurring, or they measure the energy of the moment, and what that is likely to lead to.

For that matter astrology, whether Western, Chinese, Vedic or Mayan all tell us the same thing: there is a repeating sequential pattern, and the time of our birth is a part of that repetitive loop, establishing the conditions of our life's' trajectory = fate.

Destiny & Choice

While fate is woven into being by forces beyond the personal will, destiny is an act of conscious choice, and active participation, in the unfolding tapestry.

We notice the divine weaving, and grasp that we too have this divine spark within us, acting in both the creative and destructive function of nature.

And once we see 'the hand that writes us in' we can begin contribute to, and even alter this greater weaving. It is at the layer of destiny, that each of can help 'dream reality into being', and not remain 'a victim of circumstances'.

The issue is that true choice is by it's very nature, limited in scope. There is only so much we 'can change'.

A lot of hardship occurs, when people misplace the energy they have, trying to shift something that will not. Solid divination can help us avoid this issue, by showing us where to place our energy and in what way.

I have been involved in divination system my entire life, having been raised in the Afro-Cuban tradition of Lucumi, where I first learned to work with oracles from Nigeria. I have also been trained in, independently studied and have practiced with a variety of oracular systems, including a variety of Chinese oracles, Chinese | Western | Vedic Astrology, bone oracles and cartomancy. Along with this, I have also created my own oracle deck, The Archetypical Ancestors oracle deck.

The one thing that stands out from my many years of exploration, is that the most potent oracular traditions centralize choice.

The kind of choice differs between cultures and traditions, and range from simple do or don't do this, to strategic and tactical decisions, to ritual prescriptions, to offerings and petitions made to spiritual forces, to internal shifts of perspective.

For what good is divination if we cannot actively participate with the information it gives us? We divine in order to choose.
